This workshop, hosted by ABS and the ABS Laboratory for Ocean Innovation (LOI) at Texas A&M University (TAMU), brings together leaders from industry, academia and government to advance practical approaches for verifying and validating Maritime Autonomous Surface Ships (MASS).
Building on initiatives such as the IMO MASS Code and lessons from real-world trials, the workshop will explore scenario-based testing, phased integration of autonomy, human–autonomy teaming, communications, gridlock resolution and resilience against cybersecurity and sensor spoofing threats. Outcomes will inform shared research priorities, verification and validation frameworks and reference scenarios to support safe and scalable maritime autonomy.
