Setting the Course to Low Carbon Shipping: Zero Carbon Outlook

Setting the Course to Low Carbon Shipping: Zero Carbon Outlook, the fourth in the ABS Setting the Course to Low Carbon Shipping Series, provides the latest analysis of the industry’s progress to low- and zero-carbon operations. Developed by the ABS Global Sustainability Centers of Excellence, this year’s Outlook focuses on the emerging value chains of hydrogen and carbon capture, as well as carbon markets and the pricing mechanisms which promise to reshape the industry.

This year’s report also features a pioneering project between ABS and Herbert Engineering Corp to develop conceptual ship designs related to transport of CO2 as well as investigate the concept of carbon capture and storage on board conventional fossil-fueled cargo ships. The project also explored liquid hydrogen carriers utilizing NASA technology to scale the design to 80,000 m3.
